Global Awareness

Outside of language study, UW-Superior has developed significant strength in global studies. The Global Awareness plan builds upon this existing strength to make global studies a centerpiece of the student experience at UW-Superior. The plan includes a number of curricular innovations that fall into three broad categories: 1) Language Study; 2) International Programs; and 3) Global Economic Development.       

2006-2007

  • Conducted national search for Mandarin Chinese faculty
  • Provided budget increase for Office of International Programs

2007-2008

  • Offer courses in Mandarin Chinese
  • Search for additional staff in the Office of International Programs
  • Creation of the Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures
  • Appointment of the Associate Dean for International Education and Programs

2008-2009

  • Search for and hire French faculty and Global Economic Development (G.E.D.) positions.
  • French courses moved from Continuing Education to regular curriculum
  • Study Abroad Advisor and support staff added to Office of International Programs.
