need more computer stations in
the cope center |
| 1 |
A lot of the computer labs on
campus are used for classes.
Whenever I would like to use a
computer, there always happens to be
classes in progress. (Erlanson) |
| 1 |
At times there aren't enough
computers in the labs to meet
demands. Especially computers that
are hooked up to a scanner. |
| 1 |
computer lab assistants are not
always knowledgable about what you
asked them. Once I asked an
assistant to help me put the
letterhead paper in the printer,
because I needed to print something
on a letterhead. He didn't know how
to do this.... simple as putting the
paper in ... They need more
training, or simple knowledge about
troubleshooting. |

Computer lab in Holden Fine Arts
are usually full in the afternoons |
| 1 |
Computer labs are available in
more than one building. At the
campuses I have attended previously,
computer labs were almost impossible
to get in and were only available in
one or two locations. Therefore, it
was in my best interests to purchase
my own PC. It's nice that I don't
have to drag my PC everywhere I go
in order to work on assignments.
|
| 1 |
Could use more computers in the
library |
| 1 |
don't use them |
| 1 |
During busier times of the year
is was difficult to get a hold of a
computer. |
| 1 |
During some weeks we don't have
enough computers and the thing that
usually disgusts me is people want
to use the computers for academic
work; however, other people are
using it for chat rooms, games, etc.
|
| 1 |
Even if one particular lab is
full, I can always find another lab
to work in. |
| 1 |
Fully install the software so we
do not need to go through the setup
pages every time we log in. For
example with Adobe. |
| 1 |
Having Mozilla on the computers
would be useful, as well as allowing
a higher screen resolution. |
| 1 |
Holden Fine Arts building could
use another computer lab for
students who have classes in the
building and want to stay there. |
| 1 |
Holden needs more computers.
Also, it takes FOREVER for the
computers to sign on and sign off
(several minutes)...this is VERY
annoying. It was not this way at the
start of the year but by the end it
was very distracting. |
| 1 |
HWC does not have enough
computers. |
| 1 |
I am an Extended Degree student
so this does not apply to me. |
| 1 |
I am never worried or nervous
about getting a paper or assignment
done on time because if my home
computer crashes or something, then
I can just come to school. I also
fell really lucky and find it
EXTREMELY convenient that we can
print items without paying for them
individually. The last university I
attended was "old school" and made
us pay per page or some crap like
that. |
| 1 |
I can pretty much use a student
computer whenever I need one. There
is always one available and can get
what I need to get done on it in a
decent amount of time. |
| 1 |
I can usually jump on a computer
and check e-mails. They are always
busier around finals. |
| 1 |
I could not open an electronic
resereve paper, and the person that
was suppose to help had know idea
what to do. I recommend that you
should have people that can help
instead of saying "try it again,
well I don't know." This was in the
computer lab in the health and
wellness center. |
| 1 |
I don't think the student lab
consultants were very useful. It
seemed to me that for the most part
they were being paid to basically
sit around and chat with there
friends or answering their e-mail.
|
| 1 |
I enjoy the computer labs and
there are enough computers. I feel
as if I can always find a computer
when needed. |
| 1 |
I feel more computers should
have the GIS software for GIS
students to use. The science
computer lab is open a very limited
amount of hours, and those are the
only computers with that software.
|
| 1 |
I find that the computers I come
across on campus are unable to fit
my need academically do to the lack
of not only software choices but
operating system choices. There are
no Linux computers, a few amount of
macs, and even if I do have access
to a mac, Safari is not on them.
Internet Explorer does not follow W3
standards so my work can't be done
in IE. Also, Firefox and other
freely available choices are missing
from the Window's PC |
| 1 |
I had only one or two problems
all year; somebody is doing a great
job of keeping things running
smoothly |
| 1 |
I have not seen any lab
attendants |
| 1 |
I have trouble finding an open
computer often |
| 1 |
I need GIS ArcMap & ArcView, and
Visual studio |
| 1 |
I often wonder whether I will be
able to find a computer to use when
I need one and I do not have any
idea who is an assistant in the labs
as they are not labeled as such in
any way. |
| 1 |
I personally use a jump drive to
transport data back and forth from
home to school. Unfortornately, due
to the design of the Dell computers,
it can be a challenge to gain access
to the USB port. I have also noticed
that some of the ports are loose so
the jump drives do not stay
connected or connect at all. It is
difficult to find available
computers especially in the library
at times.
|
| 1 |
i think their should be more
computers in RSC because they are
usually pretty full. And during
finals it was extremely hard to get
one. |
| 1 |
i used zip disks and you removed
the zip drives from the computers in
the COPE center which was horrible
for me, i could no longer work on
items at home and save them to open
up at school. Not to mention all the
files that i can no longer access at
school if i need too. |
| 1 |
I wish I could install my data
transfer software onto the network
computers. This has prevented me
from using my data stick to move
information from my dorm computer to
one in the labs. |
| 1 |
i wish there was one in barstow |
| 1 |
i wish there were more scans on
campus, but other then that i feel
the labs are fine. |
| 1 |
If I need a computer, I usually
go to the library, but, there are
times when no computer is available |
| 1 |
In the COPE center and McCaskil
in general there were never enough
computers to meet my needs. |
| 1 |
in the HWC there appears to be
no assistant |
| 1 |
It can be difficult to find an
open computer in RSC, especially
around lunch time. |
| 1 |
It can get loud in the Old Main
lab and many people go on thier cell
phones which can be distracting. |
| 1 |
It is difficult for me to use
the computer labs becuase most of
them are not set up for a variety of
people (height wise) and the chairs
are for the most part useless in
this area. I have carpal tunnel and
the labs are very uncomfortable.
Also, the USB ports on the towers
are very awkward to acess for USB
memory devices. When, in the future,
buying computers this may be
something to look into. (I realize
that I'm being critical but I think
that's what you're going for here.
In general, I am very happy with
this schools tech support.) |
| 1 |
it is not a quiet zone, should
be able to talk. Got yelled at for
talking.
|
| 1 |
It would be great to have a
computer lab on the main floor of
the RSC.
|
| 1 |
It would be nice if there were
extended hours in the Holden Fine
Arts computer lab. (Especially near
finals week.) I am a music major and
need to hop from the practice rooms
to the computer lab. I lose a lot of
time walking from the Old Main lab
to the Holden practice rooms. |
| 1 |
It would be nice to have a few
larger computer labs on campus. For
example I have had a very difficult
time finding an open computer in the
fine arts building. There is not a
sufficient lab in that building, for
the number of students that have
courses there. |
| 1 |
It would be nice to have a few
more computers in RSC. I don't know
how this would be possible
space-wise, but it is a little
annoying around mid-terms and finals
to have to search for a computer all
around campus in order to print out
a paper which would only take about
5 mins to do. |
| 1 |
It would be nice to have more
computers in the library. |
| 1 |
It would be nice when the
computers in the campus halls,
especially Crownhart would be
accessible and workable, especially
since we are reasurred that we will
have a computer to work on if we
dont have our own personal one. |
| 1 |
It's only when everyone is doing
papers at the end of the semester
that it is hard to find a computer
sometimes, but I can almost always
find one. |
| 1 |
Lab consultants will just sit
there and watch while you are having
trouble instead of helping right
away. Especially when you are having
trouble with the printer and it is
very obvious. |
| 1 |
Larger computer lab in Holden
Fine arts Building would be great. |
| 1 |
Media center- no printers |
| 1 |
More computers are needed in the
Fine Arts lab, or a second computer
lab on the 3rd floor would be
wonderful. |
| 1 |
more computers....there too
little for amount of students |
| 1 |
More scanners would be useful
and make sur ethe printers are
filled with paper and operable.
there were many problems with the
rsc printers this semester |
| 1 |
Mozilla |
| 1 |
My experiences in HFAC lead me
to believe more computers should be
available. There are many instances
the entire lab is full. It would be
ideal if additional computers in
HFAC were equipped with desktop
publishing software, like Adobe CS
Suite. |

N/A |
| 1 |
Need ISIS Draw for chemistry
(see Dr. Lane); not on university
computers, yet it's a free download.
Cope center computer numbers do not
meet demand. Have never seen a
computer lab consultant to ask for
help in cope center. Need to post
signs or directions where to obtain
help. |
| 1 |
Need labs open during longer
hours and need more computers.
Especialy during high flow times.
|
| 1 |
Need more in the RSC. |
| 1 |
Need to always check paper...but
that's better this year than last |
| 1 |
Never had to use them, I ran my
own computer lab next door to the
m130 lab. |
| 1 |
Nice! |
| 1 |
no one inforces the fact that
some dont want to hear people
talking on their phones or listen to
them talking loud. why cant anyone
inforce people being quiet. |
| 1 |
No. |
| 1 |
none |
| 1 |
Not enough computers around...we
don't need hundreds more but just a
dozen or so. |
| 1 |
Not enough computers in the Cope
Center |
| 1 |
not in holden fine Arts The
edtnig labs also need to be expanded
it is becoming very populat |
| 1 |
Off campus student |
| 1 |
Often times, computers were
filled up in the places where I
would go to work. The cope center
was often filled as well as the
computers in the basement of the
dorms. Sometimes, computers did not
have easy accesibility to jump drive
ports and I was unable to access my
work. Other times, computers were
out of paper when I needed to print
something. |
| 1 |
one day i was in the library and
i had to print off a color copy.
There was a lab consultant sitting
at the help desk doing nothing.
After two blank pages printed, he
finally said "oh, yeah that is not
working, you will have to use the
one in the old main lab." if it's
not working why is it even on. By
the time i got back to my computer
for some reason it had printed more
sheets, wasting more of my printing
credits. |
| 1 |
Personally, I only need to use
these labs when pressed for time and
in one location. But there is plenty
of space available. |
| 1 |
Please install fully functioning
version of Visual Studio .NET, MASM,
and other common utilities used by
CIS and CSCI students. |
| 1 |
Printers are broken when I need
to use them, or dont print and it
eats up my print credit |
| 1 |
Put in a OS X system. They're so
much more effective and speedy than
windows. |
| 1 |
RSC computer labs could use a
few more computers |
| 1 |
Saving personal options would be
nice. Having "favorites" on web
browser. |
| 1 |
Several times when I have gone
to use computers in the basement of
my dorm, people have been playing
games or chatting online. I think a
stricter policy needs to be set
saying academic work comes before
leisure time. |
| 1 |
Some are much better than
others--some keyboards are decidedly
"sticky" and are hard to type
on--cell phone use in computer labs
often annoying |
| 1 |
Some labs could use more
computers. The one that are there
are up-to-date and have the software
I need. |
| 1 |
Some labs, like the ones in RSC
and Holden are always full. |
| 1 |
Some of the programs that where
required to use in class did not
have the proper hook up and did not
have internet access so adjustments
couldn't be made out of class. That
made it difficult for students who
are full time and work. |
| 1 |
Sometimes lab use heavy at COPE
center....must find other computers,
usually at library. |
| 1 |
Sometimes the computers goes
slow when logging into the computer |
| 1 |
Sometimes there are not enough
computers, particularly in RSC. I
wish you would update fonts. When I
create powerpoint presentation on my
computer then transfer them to the
school for presentation, the fonts
are usually unavailable. That causes
a lot of extra work particularly
when time is of the essence.
|
| 1 |
sometimes there were not any
available computers |
| 1 |
Sometimes they are full when you
need them so you have to wait or go
somewhere else |
| 1 |
Student consultants also do not
seem very friendly all of the time.
It is like they are only there for
the job, and not to really help
other students. |
| 1 |
Student workers need to spend
less time visiting with their
friends. For some students it's hard
enough to ask for help; as the
dynamic a group adds and the
question goes unanswered. |
| 1 |
The best computer lab is the
COPE center. Those computers seem to
run a lot faster. |
| 1 |
The computer in MC 139 NEEDS
printer access! There are not enough
computers available...been in the
Cope Center lately?? There are
people hanging around like vultures
just waiting for you to get up. The
Cope Center, library, etc. don't
have long enough hours...we need 24
labs, especially during high-use
times like the end of semester.
Students should be informed as to
WHERE all the labs are. I just found
out (after 2 years) that there's a
computer lab in the wellness center,
and I heard there's one in Old Main
too. Where is it and what are its
hours?? |
| 1 |
The computer lab in Erlanson has
computers that quite frankly need to
be updated. We had to take a final
exam on these computers and the
computer couldn't bring the exam to
the screen until a half hour later.
This is just one example, when doing
work for another class that requires
special software none of us in the
class could get access. Another
problem with the lab in Erlanson is
what is with closing the lab down
just because we can go to Old Main
doesn't mean we should have to leave
this lab room that has the software
that we need to use. I really think
that lab should be left open just
like Old Main's lab is. |
| 1 |
The computer labs and the
technology need to use Universal
Design and be more accessible! |
| 1 |
The cope center is always full.
This institution is known for it's
Elementary Ed. program, yet the Cope
Center doesn't have enough computers
to meed the demands of the program. |
| 1 |
The COPE Center needs more
computers there never seems to be
any free
|
| 1 |
The lab in the Ostrander dorm
could use some work |
| 1 |
The old main lab should be
staffed 24/7 if only for security
reasons. |
| 1 |
The ones in the library are tied
up in class a lot. The computer labs
in Old Main, RSC, ect. give me the
willies. There is no ability to
interact with the Library and my
research. It is impossible to
download software. I am still trying
to figure out why some computers
display PICA 8. Computer technicians
must have the best eyes in the
world. I was equally shocked to
discover that wireless in the
library is only functioning in areas
that already have computers. It is
totally useless. I have wireless at
home and cover neighbers in adjacent
buildings. I assume your lack of
resources is do to a lack of funds.
There is no reason why you do not
cooperate with the library. UWS's
library is pathetic to begin with.
The fact that computer access is
periodic doesn't help. I get the
distinct impression that no one from
the larger community uses the UWS
library. that says a lot. |
| 1 |
The only problem I had was that
I was not able to use and access
PsychMates program from the general
lab. We had to get special
permission to unlock the Psychology
lab to use the computers there.
|
| 1 |
The printers in the computer
labs always have problems -- they
print streaks, even on the expensive
colour printer. I got so fed up with
turning in papers that looked
horrible, that I bought my own
printer and don't use the school
printers anymore. Even just cleaning
the printheads and laser cartridges,
as well as routine maintenance,
would clear up so many of those
problems.
|
| 1 |
the printers wont print when i
have 1.07 left in print credit. the
computers in the lab in the front of
the snack bar are really slow.
otherwise its been o.k. |
| 1 |
The prnters were bad in all of
the labs. |
| 1 |
there are comupter is just sucks
when you go to one bulding and have
to travel arcross campus to use a
comutper cause where you went
orginally were all being used |
| 1 |
There are many times throughout
the semester that you must go from
building to building to find a
computer that is open. Open RSC
computers are especially difficult
to get to. |
| 1 |
there are not enough computers
all of the time |
| 1 |
There are too few computers in
the Holden Fine Arts Building. I
would have appreciated it if the
campus computers offered OpenOffice
software in addition to Microsoft. I
really hate the Yellowjacket
background whenever you log on, it
would be nice if students could
individualize their profile's
settings. |
| 1 |
There could be a few more
computers, or a better system for
closing computer labs when they are
reserved for classes that do not
even fill the lab. |
| 1 |
there could be more of them. it
seems that sometimes they are full
and i cant get on one when i need
it. or i have to go to a completely
different building to use one. |
| 1 |
There is in Old main but not in
RSC or Fine Arts. |
| 1 |
There is never an available
computer over in McCaskel. The
computers in the technology center,
we are informed, can NOT be used
unless you are working on teachers
ed projects so most of the day that
room sits heavily equiped and empty.
Students should be able to use them
if there is no class in the room. |
| 1 |
There should be more computers
in the basement of Ostrander. |
| 1 |
There's not enough computers in
the COPE center. |
| 1 |
They are available to me in
every building |
| 1 |
They are awsome! I wouldn't get
by without them. Computers are way
expensive |
| 1 |
They are fine but sometimes it
takes a long time for someone to
come and fix a problem |
| 1 |
They are too small and there
aren't enough computers |
| 1 |
they don't have GIS software i
need for class |
| 1 |
They need to be larger in size |
| 1 |
They're all clean the only
disappointment is that the only
computer lab that isn't ever
completly full is the Old Main lab. |
| 1 |
They're great. They're always
open when I need them. |
| 1 |
Those who are working in the
labs need to be a lot more strict
with the use of cell phones. Even
though there are many signs up in
the lab, people still use them in
the lab and it's really, really
annoying. |
| 1 |
too crowded and close together
for people who like their space |
| 1 |
We need more computer labs.
|
| 1 |
We need more. We need a lab
large enough for CSCI 101. It is an
embarrassment to the university to
not have a lab for that class. They
should re-examine funding for CSCI.
|
| 1 |
Whose decision was it to install
Windows on all the Macs? This isn't
a big deal, it just sees
counterproductive, even recidivist. |
| 1 |
Why don't my print credits keep
transferring or get taken off my
bill? |
